Dotted Line

La Antigua Bodeguita, Plaza del Salvador 6, T 954 561 833. As long as the weather holds, the interior of this popular bar is really just a place to order, as the crowd from here and the bar next door spills out onto the square. It’s a great Sevillian scene in its own right, but the tapas are also worthy. Check out mojama, cured tuna meat that will either delight or disgust.

El Ambigú, C Feria 47, T 954 381 015. Mon-Sat 0800-0030. This simple, tiled bar is known for the high quality of its home-cooked tapas. The specials vary daily – try the bacalao macerado, or munch on some marinated capers on their stalks. The portions are generous and there’s a good menú del día for E 6.60.

Yebra, C Medalla Milagrosa 3, T 954 351 0070. Tue-Sun 1200-1700, 2000-2400. One of Seville’s best tapas joints; a smart, but relaxed place, offering up authentic gourmet food in tapas portions for around E 1.80. It’s not often that you’ll see partridge or pheasant on tapas menus, you will here. The only drawback is that it’s so popular getting an order in can be a nightmare so try and head there early.

La Dona, C Balbino Marrón s/n, T 954 631 705. A stylish little tapas option, decorated with photos and pictures of the horse at work and play. The best option is the montaditos.

La Huerta de la Buhaira, Av de la Buhaira s/n, T 954 990 717. 1100-2230. A beautiful retreat; a terrace shaded by vines and palms in a pretty neo-Moorish park. The food’s great too and the tapas portions are large. Try a grilled tuna or a salad. Recommended.

Nueva Enramadilla, C José Recuerda Rubio s/n, T 954 656 678. 0800-1600, 2000-2300. Variable rest day between Mon-Wed. A big, bright and tasty option at the back of the Viapol, this is a place to come for beer and filling tapas before a night out. Worthwhile choices include the guiso or revuelto special.

Reino de León, C Latorre s/n, T 954 322 915. This unremarkable- looking tapas bar does absolutely superb food. Order whatever the daily special is; if it’s mollejas (sweetbreads) and you’re a fan of innards, it’s your lucky day, but everything’s really tasty.
