Dotted Line

The biggest cinema attraction (literally) in Sydney is the huge eight-storey-high IMAX Theatre in Darling Harbour . In the city centre most of the major cinema complexes are to be found along George Street between Town Hall and Chinatown.

Chauvel, corner Oxford St and Oatley Rd, T 9361 5398. A showcase for more retro, foreign or fringe films.

Hayden Orpheum Cinema, 180 Military Rd, Cremorne, T 9908 4344. From $13, children $10. Often half-price Tue. A wonderful art deco cinema on the North Shore that offers a fine alternative to the modern city cinemas.

Moonlight Cinema, Centennial Park, T 1900 933 899, movies@moonlight.com.au 23 Nov-23 Feb. Older classics under the stars. Take a picnic and plenty of cushions.
