From the UK you can take a car ferry from Newcastle to Gothenburg with DFDS Seaways, T 0870 5333 000, http://www.dfdsseaways.co.uk, starting from £24 per person one way, £62 per car. From there you can drive to Stockholm and take a car ferry to Tallinn. You will have no trouble obtaining car insurance to drive in Estonia. A car is useful for travelling around the country but probably more trouble than its worth if you are staying in the Old Town, given the lack of parking spaces and the relative expense of paid parking.
