Dotted Line

There are international links to St Petersburg (9 hrs) and Moscow (14 hrs) from the main railway station, Balti jaam, Toompuiestee 35, T 615 6850, http://www.evrekspress.ee, just behind Toompea. It has a left-luggage facility and an ATM, although the latter is heavily used and often runs out of money. Few of the station staff speak English and the station is best avoided at night. In fact, the train service in Estonia is so poor that, barring electric trains, using the network should be regarded as a last resort. From Balti jaam, you can walk or take a taxi into the Old Town; trams 1, 2 and 5 go to Viru väljak.
