As the name suggests, a pre-dinner hotspot, famous for attracting local celebs. Bar 21, piazza Vittorio Veneto 21. Open 1800-0100. Under La Mole, the tables of this trendy bar look like ice blocks. Absinthe is on the drinks menu. Caffe Elena, piazza Vittorio Veneto 5. This is currently one of the most in vogue hang-outs at aperitif time. La Drogheria, piazza Vittorio Veneto 18. Open 1900-2300. Super-crowded at aperitif time by students and ex-pats, this is currently one of the hippest bars with a great view over piazza Vittorio and the hillside across the Po. Among the canapés is mini-bagna cauda. The Shamrock Inn, C.so Vittorio Emanuele II, 34, T 011 8174950. Open 1930-0100. If you must go to an Irish pub in Turin, then go to this one. Theyre actually more popular among Italians than ex-pats. The advantage with Italian licensing laws is that they can stay open much later than British versions.
