Newly installed next to its more illustrious neighbour Doctor Sax, worth popping in on during the Murazzi club crawl. Doctor Sax, Murazzi del Po 4. Open 2000-0400. The longest standing and still the best of the former boathouse clubs in the Murazzi, a perennial favourite with Turin’s immigrant population and therefore serious about its reggae and African vibes. Great decor with the chassis and seats of an old tram lining the interconnecting corridor. Live music during the week and occasional stripteases. Of Turin’s traditional disco-type nightclubs, this is the best with a smooth clientele of beautiful people grooving to the latest tunes that are more Ibiza than Italian old skool. Alcatraz, Murazzi del Po 37/41, T 0349 8053516. Open 2130-0300. The bare walls and dungeon feel surely evoke the infamous prison in this, one of Turin’s most popular bar/clubs. Aqua, Murazzi del Po 31/33. Open 2000-0200. Water by name and location, a good club but essentially indistinguishable from the nearby riverside haunts. Arcata 35, Murazzi del Po 35. Open summer only, 1900-0100. Literally ‘arch number 35’ in this long chain of bar/clubs sharing the same atmospheric architecture.
