In terms of more modern artistic idioms, Turin is acknowledged as the Italian capital of jazz and also of a burgeoning local style of roots reggae, while the city is a guaranteed multi-date destination on the tours of famous Italian and international bands. Turin- formed bands making waves in Italy and in other corners of continental Europe are Mau Mau, Subsonica and Africa Unite. Operas such as Tosca were premiered in Turin and the Teatro Regio, part of the regal architecture of piazza Castello, is a famous destination on the international concert, opera and ballet calendar. The main theatres belong to an association called Teatro Stabile Torino.
