EEE El Centenario, via Biancamano 3, T 011 539506. Tortilla, nachos and the best of the rest of Mexico on a plate in a good quality restaurant. A spicy and sunny change from the Italian staples.

EEE ‘L Gentilom, via Gobetti 15, T 011 5577111. Set within the stylish Hotel Principi di Piemonte, this is an appropriately smart, if a little formal and quiet restaurant. If you’re staying here you’ll probably want to eat out; not many locals come here just for the food.

EEE Mister Hu, via Mercanti 16, T 011 537171. Offering a vast menu across the regions of China, this is considered to be Turin’s best Chinese restaurant.

EEE Neuv Caval ‘d Brons, piazza San Carlo, T 011 5627483. Set in Turin’s showcase piazza, this is one of the city’s gastronomic classics. The menu has kept up with the times offering an innovative and sometimes surprising take on traditional regional dishes.

EE La Smarrita, via Cesare Battisti 17, T 011 8177679. This restaurant is supposed to be located in the former offices of Cavour, the founder of the Italian consitution. This piece of history has nothing to do with the menu other than ensure pride in delicious local specialities.

E Arcadia, Galleria Subalpina 16, T 011 561 3898. Sushi meets Piemontese cuisine in this bar/restaurant that’s not so much fusion as bilingual, with your tempura and udon served at the bar and traditional regional dishes at the surrounding tables.

E Barattino, piazza Castello 27, T 011 5613060. This is the restaurant off-shoot of the famous Baratti café. Perfectionists might say they should stick to their main business but the cuisine is flavoursome and local, and the decor traditional and elegant in the stylish core of the city.

EEE La Barrique, C.so Dante 53/a, T 011 657900. A refined and formal atmosphere greets customers at this, one of Turin’s classiest dining rooms, serving exquisite regional dishes like a cream of artichoke and peppers starter and tagliatelle.

EEE Caffe Elena, via Matteo Pescatore 9, T 011 837760. Currently one of Turin’s cooler hang-outs, more for its trendy minimalism, lounge music and general bar scene than for its food however, it is nevertheless beautifully prepared and presented and very tasty.
