EEE Al Garamond, via Pomba 14, T 011 8122781. Delicious antipasti are the speciality in this traditional restaurant, among them the goats cheese ravioli. Also dont miss the quail in truffle sauce and the original liquorice mousse. EEE Carignano, via Carlo Alberto 35, T 011 5170171. Different from many of the citys other hotel restaurants, this one set in the Grand Hotel Sitea is a chic and classy dining room with a deservedly chic and therefore formal clientele. Good for a romantic evening but low on lively atmosphere. EEE Ristorante del Cambio, piazza Carignano 2, T 011 543760. Marinated in a long-standing aristocratic tradition, this restaurant, open since 1757, is one of Turins most illustrious. The decor is operatic with abundant mirrors, stucco and frescoes; the food and service very much in the same style. The long list of illustrious diners includes Cavour, the architect of the Italian State; the management have managed to remember where he sat all those years ago so you can follow in his footsteps. EEE San Giorgio 1884, viale Millo 6, T 011 6692131. Set within the facsimile medieval village, what might be a rather gimmicky establishment is in fact quite tasteful. Founded in 1884, the walls are frescoed and the furnishings antique while the menu is international to suit the palates of the main visitors, tourists. Sometime there is live music and most nights there is a piano bar. EEE Torpedo, via Nizza 262, T 011 6642000. As part of the refurbished, super-contemporary Lingotto complex, this restaurant in the Meridien Lingotto hotel is suitably minimalist and contemporary one of only a few in Turin and the dishes sometimes a little too much so. EE LAgrifoglio, via Accademia Albertina 38/d, T 011 4366706/ 837064, closed Sun and Mon, only open in evenings, most cards accepted. Delicious and good-value homemade cooking in heart of stylish baroque Turin. If you like risotto, try the rice with crema Barbaresco sauce. The puddings are unavoidable. EE Hosteria la Vallee, via Provana 3/b, T 011 8121788. As the name suggests this is a down-at-heel tavern-style eaterie, more than a little influenced by France, notably in the delicious foie gras starters. EE Montecarlo, via San Francesco da Paola 37, T 011 888763. Delicious dishes from all over northern Italy in a friendly, cosmopolitan atmosphere. EE Spada Reale, via Principe Amedeo 53, T 011 8171363. If youve never eaten bison, nows your chance; if youve got any room left try the risotto and the orange mousse.
