As befits an Olympic city that is also home to Juventus and Torino football clubs, Turin is sport mad. The scarves, flags, strips and graffiti of the famous black and white and granata (purple) teams are visible and on sale at every corner kiosk. Juventus are yet again champions of Italy and hold the record for the most championships titles. Their Stadio delle Alpi is rarely full for normal games but tickets for games against the rival Milan teams, Italian Cup games, the twice-yearly derby and European games are by contrast usually very hard to get hold of. The parco Valentino and the parco Pellerina are full of impromptu games, with players trying to bend it like Del Piero, and it is very easy to join in. Football is not the only sport however. Turin has plenty of gyms and pools as well as facilities for those other Italian sporting obsessions: cycling, basketball and volleyball. The rolling plains and hills of Piedmont provide great trails for hiking and mountain biking, as well as many golf courses. Turin is also Italys skiing capital, with ten or more world-famous resorts on its doorstep.
