In Italy it is not customary to hail taxis in the street. The taxi network runs either by going to the nearest taxi rank or by calling one of the city’s taxi co-operative numbers: T 011 5737, T 011 5730 or T 011 3399. You will be charged for the time/distance it takes to come to you pick-up point plus the subsequent fare. There may also be additional charges for the airport, luggage etc. Have change ready as Italian taxi drivers have a miraculous knack of not having any if it means they can round up the fare. There is also a disabled taxi service available on T 011 58116.
