With a long weekend, you can afford to take things at a gentler pace. Spend a bit of time in the city's cultural museums, like the Museu de Belles Arts/Museo de Bellas Artes for Old Masters or at IVAM if you prefer contemporary art. Admire the dizzy baroque excess of the Palau de Dos Aigües/Palacio de Dos Aguas, now the ceramic museum, dedicated to Valencia's most famous product (next to oranges, of course). Chill out in the tranquil Jardí Botànic, or the tiny, secret garden behind the Casa Museu Josep Benlliure. If you have missed out on the Fallas festival, you can see what it is all about at a pair of museums dedicated to the festival. Away from the city, head out to the Llac Albufera and take a boat trip. Bird-watchers should visit the natural park of the Albufera and pick up pamphlets describing a series of walks and the location of hides. Valencia's prettiest and least-busy beaches can also be found here, perfect for a spot of undisturbed sunbathing.
