Semana Santa (Easter/Holy Week) (variable) Solemn, colourful religious processions from the cathedral. There are also processions around the churches of the seaside barrios of Malvarrosa and Cabanyal. Look out for the much venerated image of El Cristo del Salvador, carried by penitents in their typical pointy hats. Battle of the Moors and the Christians (three days around 23 June) Alcoi is famous throughout Spain for this festival. Smaller versions take place in many other Valenciano towns and villages throughout the year.
