ADN, C/Àngel Custodi/Angel Custodio 10, T 963 917 988, http://www.yhomo.com/adn/ Bus 5B. Metro Pont de la Fusta. Thu-Sat 2000-late. A cool, stylish bar popular with a younger, gay crowd. Mainly men, but women are welcome too. The dance floor is tiny, but packs out at weekends. It's a good place for a relaxing drink during the week.

Dona-Dona, Portal de Valldigna, T 963 911 838. Bus 5, 5B. Wed-Sat 2000-0300. A small, relaxed lesbian – but not exclusively – bar and club in the Carme. There are several different areas, so you'll always find a quiet corner for a chat, but the tempo picks up dramatically at weekends. There's an After Hours club 0600-1200 Fridays and Saturdays.

Hangar, C/Villanueva y Gascón/Villanueva i Gascón 2. Metro Àngel Guimera. 1900-0300. Gay bar featuring shows – drag queens, strip tease etc.

La Cuerva Del Lobo, C/Murillo 22. Bus 5, 5B, 27, 60, 62, 81. Wed-Sun 2300-late. One of the newest gay bars in town, and a favourite for cruising gay men.

La Gerra, C/Quart 47, T 963 913 675. Bus 5, 5B, 27, 60, 62, 81. Daily 2000-0300. A five-storey bar-club which mainly caters to Valencia's gay men and is a good place for cruising. There's a movie screen on the third floor and the music is house, techno and dance.

La Goulue, C/Quart 32. Bus 5, 5B, 27, 60, 62, 81. Wed-Sat 2200-0400. La Goulue is decorated with over-the-top faux baroque, and is a great party spot at weekends. A favourite with young, gay men, it regularly puts on fun theme nights and shows.

Venial, C/Quart/Cuart 26, T 963 917 356. Bus 5, 5B, 27, 60, 62, 81. Wed-Sat 2430-0500. The oldest and most popular gay disco in Valencia with a friendly, mixed crowd. The dance floor is always packed, but there's a good chill-out area to relax in over a drink. Good parties and theme nights, too.

Victor's, C/Dr Montserrat 23, T 963 917 081. Bus 5, 5B, 27, 60, 62, 81. Wed-Sat 2200-late. A classic, gay disco for a slightly older crowd.
