The easiest way of getting to Valencia is by air. Valencias airport is not currently served by budget airlines from the UK which makes flight prices fairly hefty in comparison with more popular destinations. The high season is from June to early September with prices falling dramatically in the winter months.
If you are looking for a cheap deal, your best bet may be to take a budget or charter flight to Alicante and then take the train up the coast. Good deals can usually be found on the internet and you should book well in advance to get the cheapest fares.
Trains from other parts of Europe are scenic but take ages, although you can travel overnight from Paris to Barcelona and then take a high-speed service down the coast. Coach travel is cheap, but the two-day journey from the UK is only for masochists or those with student cards entitling them to worthwhile reductions.
A car is useful for exploring the hinterland of the Comunitat Valenciana or for getting to Llac Albufera and the more remote beaches, but the coastal resorts are all very well served by public transport.
