A great spot with an eclectic range of live music: folk or flamenco on Tuesdays, jazz on Wednesdays, tango (early) on Saturdays, plus a range of weekend concerts covering all kinds of music. Republicca, Poligon Industrial de Mislata, T 963 665 646. 10-min taxi ride from the centre. A big discoteca on the outskirts of town (you'll need to get a cab), this attracts big-name bands. This big club is one of the biggest live music venues in the city, featuring big-name performers plus local groups. Wah Wah, Av Campoamor 52, T 963 563 942. Bus 40. 1930-0300. Three spaces with live performances from local rock, indie, alternative and underground bands. It's a big student favourite, and entrance is usually free. Palau de la Música, Jardins de Túria, T 963 575 020, http://www.palaudevalencia.com Metro Alameda. This huge, glassy building overlooking the Túria riverbed (now gardens) is home to the Orquestra de València and offers classical music, opera, ballet and occasional pop and jazz concerts. There are special outdoor concerts in the gardens during the summer and, from the glassy atrium, you can watch the fountains leap to the beat of the music within. It should finally open in early 2004, and hopes to attract world-class companies across the performing arts. Placido Domingo is slated to be one of the first to appear. The aim is to 'democratize' the arts, and provide a dynamic mixture of classical and contemporary theatre, opera, dance and music.
