If youve got two days, explore the Downtown Peninsula on one day, and everything else on the other. Start at the waterfront and walk in an anti-clockwise loop, moving from Canada Place to the Art Gallery, BC Place, Science World, Chinatown, East Side and Gastown. The Elbow Room is the best place for breakfast, and Hons Wun-Tun House a good choice for lunch. Then follow Davie or Robson Street to Stanley Park and the Aquarium. After food and drinks on Davie or Denman Street, check out Yaletowns after-dark atmosphere on your way back to Gastown: the Alibi Room, Honey Lounge and Lotus Club are some of the citys most happening night-time hotspots. Start the second day with breakfast in Kitsilano, then move on to the UBC Museum of Anthropology. Back in Kitsilano, head down to Kits Beach and along English Bay to Vanier Park. Continue on foot along False Creek to the arts and crafts Mecca of Granville Island. Grab some speciality foods from the Public Market and have a picnic by the water, then spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the North Shore. Two of the citys best restaurants, Bishops and Lumière, are in Kitsilano, but you might prefer the more cosmopolitan and bohemian area of Commercial Drive. If youre sticking around for a long weekend and you like mountain scenery and outdoor pursuits, head up the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler and Garibaldi Park. Or stop at Squamish, hike to the top of the Stawamus Chief, then have a pint and lunch at the Howe Sound Inn. Alternatively, you could head to the laid-back Gulf Islands or to picturesque Victoria.
