Powell Street Festival This 2-day event held in early August at Oppenheimer Park in ‘Japantown’ is a celebration of Asian Canadian culture and history, featuring dance, music, theatre, and lots of great food. State-of-the-art aircraft from around the world compete and perform. T 2532311. Squamish Days Logger Sports Canada’s biggest chainsaw bonanza in mid-August, with competitions, races, beef barbecue, gospel singing, a parade and hoedown: a real slice of life. T 8929244. Victoria Fringe Theatre Festival Straddling late August and early September, this is one of the best and oldest fringes in Canada, and the event for which Victoria is most famous.
