Vancouver is very much a year-round destination. If you like skiing or snowboarding, its hard to beat for a short-break winter trip, when flights are at their cheapest. There are three ski-hills right in town, and Whistler, North Americas biggest ski resort, is just two hours north. The prime time for skiing is March, when the days are getting longer and warmer, the snow is at its best and the restaurants and bars buzz with activity. During the mild spring season the parks explode with colour, while in autumn they adopt shades of gold and red. But Vancouver is even better in summer, when locals take to the beaches and parks, theres a constant stream of great festivals, and activities such as hiking and kayaking are at their best.
