By far the citys biggest event, the summer opera season dominates other events and many hang off its coat-tails, concentrating cultural events in the city in July and August. Some of these other summer events have become very successful in their own rights, however, such as the jazz and theatre festivals. The citys second big people puller is Vinitaly, when everything and everyone wine-related pours into Verona. Other fairs which tend to fill the citys hotels are the horse and marble events. Outside of these peaks of activity there are plenty of other traditions and special seasons, however, such as the pre-Christmas Santa Lucia, Carnevale or music at the Teatro Filarmonico. A bit further afield Mantova has an excellent literature festival, and Torbole has international windsurfing competitions. Then there is the Verona marathon, and the less competitive StraVerona, or the completely uncompetitive Magnalonga, a wine-drinking, food-eating, mass-participation walking tour of Valpolicella.
