Balconies have geraniums growing, rooms have big beds and some have wooden-beamed ceilings. D Due Guerreri, piazza Sordello 52, T 0376 321533, F 0376 329645. Very central, just off the southern edge of piazza Sordello, Due Guerreri has 30 fairly plain rooms, some with views over the piazza. Tiled and cool (with air-conditioning), rooms have en-suite bathrooms, there is a restaurant downstairs and the position is hard to beat. B Vittoria, via X Giornate 20, T 030 280061, F 030 280065, http://www.hotelvittoria.com Very smart and very central, the Vittoria is Brescia’s only high-profile, and only five-star, hotel. In early 20th-century style, it’s a muted place, never ostentatious. White walls, shiny metal-framed beds, parquet floors, big ceramic baths and chrome fittings give it a stylish feel, but it can also feel a little business-orientated, perhaps inevitable in a city without much of a tourist tradition.
