Try the house speciality, la pepica con langosta y guisos marineros. Among the famous visitors, La Pepica counts Alfonso XIII and Ernest Hemingway. Wed-Mon 1300-2300. A big, buzzy restaurant on the water's edge, which is a favourite with families and is always packed. It specializes in paella and other local rice and seafood dishes including eels from the Albufera. Thu-Tue 1300-1600. A cheerful, old-fashioned restaurant right in the heart of the village with a terrace overlooking the main square. It serves tasty local seafood and rice dishes including a range of paellas, which you can wash down with a choice of regional wines. The most fashionable place to eat, this is set in a beautifully restored 100-year-old lighthouse overlooking the port. Set in a pretty, traditional townhouse in the old Jewish quarter just below the Roman theatre, this serves beautifully prepared food in romantic surroundings.
