EE Casa Roque, Cuesta San Juan/Sant Joan 1, Morella, T 964 160 336. 1330-1500 and 2000-2300. Closed Sun night and Mon between Nov-Mar, open daily the rest of the year. This traditional establishment specializes in truffles (a celebrated local delicacy) and does a good lunch menu for E 10.

This beautifully restored palace has a decent hotel-restaurant which serves good country cooking, although service can be erratic.

E Vinatea, C/Blasco Alagón, Morella, T 964 160 744. Tue-Sun 1330-1500, 2000-2300. With tables out on the porticoed main street, this serves traditional cuisine and great tapas.

A good, traditional restaurant set in a cave, and offering local specialities like roast lamb and fish grilled over charcoal. There's a good wine list with emphasis on the local tipple.

EE Mesón del Castillo, C/Gómez Ferrer 10, Buñol, T 962 501 231. Fri-Sun 1330-1600, 2100-2300. A good, old-fashioned spot, this serves tasty meat and seafood cooked over charcoal accompanied by local wines. Opening hours are erratic, and depend on the number of visitors.

This is a typical, old-fashioned mesón, which offers excellent regional dishes like revuelto de morcilla y piñones (scrambled eggs with local black sausage and pine nuts) or beef grilled over charcoal. The wine list features the best local wines.

Wicker furniture, whitewashed walls, and a profusion of plants give it a cool, relaxed ambience.
