Festivaletteratura (beginning of month) For five or six days in Mantova, Italian and international authors gather for a big literature festival. Events take place in the city’s piazzas, cloisters, and palazzos. In 2003 participants included Alain de Botton, Peter Carey, Simon Armitage, Ian McEwan and Irvine Welsh.
